'Britain's churches are one of the country's unsung assets. Many are not only architectural treasures, but contain objects any museum would be proud to display. Yet because of vandalism and theft, many churches are locked. I founded this Trust to help keep these treasures open.'

On December 1st 2006 the Open Churches Trust ceased being an active organisation.

In its twelve years it has transformed attitudes to locked churches and many thousands of places of worship are now open on a regular basis.

The Trust has done much to encourage churches to present themselves to the visiting public in an attractive and exciting way.

Much of our work is now being undertaken by the institutions listed under 'Useful Links'.

The list of member churches will be maintained on our website. We would suggest that you contact the church directly to ensure the opening and service times are still accurate as the churches do not always advise us of any changes.

Questions about opening churches can still be addressed to Brigadier Adam Gurdon, The Really Useful Group, 22 Tower Street, London WC2H 9TW.
