Euxton Parish Church
Euxton Parish Church is situated on the A49 between Wigan and Preston. There is no record as to when the church was founded, although the existing fabric appears to be a 14th century rebuilding of an earlier structure. There is evidence to suggest that the church was abandoned for Anglican worship from 1667, and was used by Roman Catholics during the reign of James II.
The chief architectural features are the windows in the north and south walls. The piscina and sedile belong to the 14th century and four other windows also date from the 14th century.
Many changes have taken place over the centuries. A vestry (now a boiler room) was added in the 18th century, and there is evidence of a gallery. More recently a new vestry was added in 1990, and a porch in 1998. The chancel was reordered in 1999, and the altar brought forward.
